Selfies with Miss Tan

This will be the last post for Prep T 2017.

It has been a great year. I have LOVED learning and growing with you Prep T 2017! I will miss you all and can’t wait to see you in 2018. Keep learning and trying your best! You are all superstars! I love you all! x

Christmas Picnic

On Friday 15th December we had our annual Christmas Picnic, this time on the Grade 1/2 oval. It was great because we used the stairs of the BER building as our stage. There were lots of picnics on the grass. We got to perform the songs we have been practising and EVERYONE did a wonderful job! The community garden was officially opened and Prep T’s lighthouse was one of the winners! We all got to take home a plant from Bunnings! Everyone in Prep T wrote their names on rocks and we stuck them to the bottom of the light house. The lighthouse has a solar powered light so if you ever visit the lighthouse at night, we should see the light shinning brightly.  All the families and teachers are so proud of all the kids! Well done Prep T!

Chesterfield Farm

As a great way to end our unit ‘Moo to You’ we visited Chesterfield Farm! This was the first time some of us has ever been to a real farm and it was amazing! We got to feed and pat animals, watch a sheep dog in action, touch lots of different artefacts, go on a tractor ride and we got to see lots of different animals. It was a great way to end our unit!

Pet Habitats

As part of our unit, ‘Moo to You’, we design our own pet habitats. We could design a safe and happy environment for a pet of our choice. We had to design our habitat including drawing up plans for our design, thinking about what materials we would need and making them fit together. These designs and models were carefully considered and very impressive! Well done Prep T!

Junior House Athletics

During Term 1, we watched our buddies as they participated in House Athletics. Now that the weather is better, it is finally our turn! The Junior House Athletics was held on Wednesday 6th December. We dressed up in our house colours and competed in a range of activities from hurdles, to sack races, to running activities. It was so much fun! Everyone did extremely well, showed great sportsmanship and got a ribbon! Well done everyone!

Healthy Breakfast

On Friday 1st December, we had a Healthy Breakfast at school! The healthy breakfast had lots of great food we have been talking about in our unit, Moo to you including healthy cereals with milk, yoghurt and fruit and juice. It was fun to be with our friends and share a meal together. We had to wake up very early and mum and dads had to drop us off before other kids were at school. It was very special to be at school before the morning bell even went!

A Cow Visit

On Thursday 30th November, we had a visit from a cow! One of our Prep friends in another grade has an uncle with a diary farm. So he brought along one of his diary cows and we got to watch how he milks her. He also brought along one of his newest calfs. She was gorgeous! Some of us got to feed her some milk, she was very hungry! We all got to have a pat of the cows and calf. It was really lovely of them to bring their cows along.

Hatching Chicks

Throughout Term 4, our Inquiry Unit was ‘Moo to You’. We learnt about farm animals and how different animals provide us with different things we use in our everyday lives. Things like food, clothes, shoes and how we need to look after them. We learnt about life cycles and the different needs animals have to grow and live. So as part of our unit, we got to watch 10 chicken eggs hatch! It was so exciting to see them hatching in the incubator, then watching them grow in their brooder and then letting them stretch their legs outside in the grass. Eleanor got to choose two of the chicks to keep at home because she already has chicks and has a proper chicken coop and food for them. We know they will have a good home with Eleanor and can’t wait to hear more about them as they grow!

It was really nice having them at school. They were so cute and fluffy!!!

Fun Run

On Tuesday 14th November, we had a Fun Run! We made our very own running bibs, we wore our running clothes and shoes and we run TWO WHOLE laps of both ovals combined! Everyone completed the course and we got to eat delicious sausage in bread, we drank nice cold water and we finished it off with fruit icy tubes!
